About the Author
For nearly 40 years, Ruth Heflin was a Christian minister. She served as pastor of Calvary Pentecostal Campground in Ashland, Virginia, and also led Mount Zion Fellowship in Jerusalem (an international prayer ministry that celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1997). In 1997, she returned from Israel to the United States to support the revival in Pensacola.
In her ministry, Ruth emphasized intercession through praise and worship. She was a prominent speaker at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida; at Catholic revival conferences; and at other conferences in America and beyond.
Known for her prophetic anointing, spiritual revelations, and ability to teach and lead people into direct worship of God, Ruth ministered to heads of state and leaders of various ranks around the world. She participated in Prayer Breakfasts held during two presidential inaugurations in Washington, attended by many members of Congress, as well as ambassadors and leaders. As a chaplain, she participated in the opening sessions of the U.S. Congress and the Pennsylvania State Senate.
Although Ruth grew up in a traditional Pentecostal family, she was able to connect with Protestants and Catholics, Jews and Muslims.
Ruth was also known for her Gospel songs, such as “I Cry for the Nations” and “The Wheel.” “The Wheel” is sung around the world. Her bestseller, Glory, was translated into twelve languages. The books Glory, Glory of Revival, River Glory, and Harvest Glory are used worldwide as guides for those who hunger for revival.
On September 15, 2000, Ruth Heflin went home to be with her Lord.
Wallace Heflin Sr. and Edith Heflin, Ruth’s parents, founded Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Richmond, Virginia, and Calvary Pentecostal Campground in Ashland, Virginia, and were pioneers in the Pentecostal movement. Their ministry was known for prophetic gifts and miracles operating through simple, sincere faith. Together, they ministered in more than 100 nations.
“My life was very inspiring because I always expected the next miracle, the next answer to prayer, the next thing Jesus would do for me. I feel that in eighty years I lived twenty lifetimes. The God of all miracles was so good and so gracious to me” (Edith Heflin).
Wallace Heflin Jr. was one of the most dynamic evangelists of the past century. His ministry in more than seventy nations was accompanied by great signs and wonders. Until his death in December 1996, he was pastor of Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle and director of Calvary Pentecostal Campground, where he trained and led thousands of people to minister to the nations.
