Contact Dreams
These are dreams through which a person makes contact with spiritual beings. The Bible describes many instances when the Lord or angels came to people during sleep.
1.Encounters with the Lord
A dream is a safe way for a person to encounter God and remain alive afterward.
Genesis 20:3 “But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him: ‘You are going to die because of the woman you have taken; she is married.’”
After contact dreams, there is nothing to interpret, because a person sees the Lordand hears what Hesays to them.
2.Encounters with Angels
The Bible describes many encounters between people and angels, including in dreams.
Matthew 2:19: “After Herod’s death, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in Egypt in a dream.”
People encounter angels in dreams more often than they encounter the Lord, and there is an understandable reason for this. The Lord sends His angels to minister to people.
Contact dreams canbeexperienced byanyone, but a person cannot do anything to make them happen more often.Draw nearto God andserve Him more, and thensuchencounters willhappen more often.
Non-Contact Dreams
These are dreams that practically everyone has. There are five main types of dreams.
1.A Dream – an Answer
This is when we receive an answer in a dream to questions (needs) that concerned us or that we had prayed aboutbefore, for example, immediately before going to sleep.
Daniel 2:28: “Here is the dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed: 29 While you were lying there, O king, your mind turned to the future, and the Revealer of mysteries showed you what is to come.”
Such dreams are preceded by evening prayers and reflection on the will of God (the Word) before going to sleep. This is one of the most powerful tools for hearing the voice of God, which all Christians should master.
Once, I spent 30 days alone with God, and for 30 nights in a row I dreamed about my future; many of those dreams have already come true.
2.Dream – Guidance
This is when a person receives guidance in a dream about what to do or not to do.
Matthew 2:12 “But having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.”
As a rule, such dreams do not require interpreting symbols or additional interpretation. Most often, these dreams call for specific actions. A person simply needs to do what they saw in the dream.
3.Dream – Warning
An unpleasant (strange, disturbing) dream should alert a person and lead them to reflection and prayer.
One day the Lord warned me about the fall of one of the leaders of our church and how that person would later “slander” us and the church. When it happened, we endured it more calmly because we had already been warned in a dream a year before the incident.
Anything unpleasant that leaves a “bad aftertaste” may be a warning for a person to intensify prayer and, if necessary, offer spiritual resistance to the enemy. At the same time, there is no need to be afraid or panic; just pray.
4.Dream – Desire.
This is when a person dreams about something they strongly desired, deeply longed for, or thought about a lot.
Isaiah 29:8 “As when a hungry person dreams that they are eating, but wake up and their hunger remains; as when a thirsty person dreams that they are drinking, but wake up exhausted and still thirsting.”
Such dreams are preceded by various expectations related to important upcoming events, trips, and so on. It is foolish to interpret such dreams.
5.Dream – meaningless
These aredreams that should be forgotten immediately and not kept in mind.
(Eccl. 5:2) For as dreams come through much busyness, so the speech of a fool is known by many words.
The vast majority of a person’s dreams are like this.
