First Encounter with the Spirit of Divination
This happened a long time ago. I was a teenager, I was not serving in any capacity in the Church, and I did not yet know about my prophetic calling. One day at the airport, an unfamiliar woman grabbed me by the hand and said, “You have a gift, and you are a chosen person, but you do not use this gift in Christianity; you are limited by Christianity. You can achieve great success. I am not a Christian, but my master gives me great power and authority. If you want, I can help you become more perfect and not be limited.”
I replied, “I serve the One who created your master, so I am not limited in any way.” She became angry and left.
I asked myself: How did she know about my gifts?
Second Encounter with the Spirit of Divination
Another time, I found myself in an even more interesting situation. As a young man, I was looking for a job.
I entered a building and decided to ask the secretary whether I could find work there. When I entered the room, the woman said to me, “You have a special gift and calling. Could you give me your watch for a minute?” I took off my watch and gave it to her. A minute later, she continued, “You came to this city from the northern part of the country, and your short, dark-haired girlfriend stayed there. She has written you a letter, and you will receive it in two days. This girl will be your wife.”
She finished and handed me back my watch. I turned around and left the office. After throwing the watch into a trash can, I went home.
Two days later, I received a letter from my girlfriend, who lived in the northern part of the country, was short, and had dark hair.
I asked myself: how did she know about my gifts, my girlfriend, and the letter?
Are these gifts from God or from the devil?
Once, I went to a New Age festival to pray there and hinder their activities. I walked past tables where mediums, psychics, and fortune-tellers were sitting, praying silently in the Spirit.
As I passed one table, I heard the Lord say to me, “This is counterfeit,” and I continued on. The Lord said to me, “This is counterfeit.” I approached the next table, and the Lord said to me, “Ah, this is a genuine gift.”
I replied, “No, Lord, I disagree; this cannot be Your gift.”
The Lord replied, “Son, calm down. You simply do not understand what a gift is. You think a gift is revelation, but you must understand that a gift is the ability to receive revelations.”
From that day on, I began to study this area, pray, ask questions, and came to the following conclusions.
1. Most psychics and fortune-tellers have no abilities at all; they simply deceive gullible people and tell them lies.
2. God gives people gifts—some from birth, and others at baptism in the Holy Spirit.
(Jeremiah 1:5) Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
(Acts 2:4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.
Those who were born again and filled with the Holy Spirit began serving the Lord and, having this gift, were able to receive revelations from the Spirit. Those who have not come to Jesus or have turned back to the world, while possessing the gift, are able to receive revelations—but not from the Lord, but from demonic spirits.
A gift is the ability to receive revelations. A gift is like a television antenna. A person is the television, the antenna is the gift, and revelations are the radio waves.
Thus, thousands of people around us have gifts from the Lord, but they do not come to Him; instead, they use these gifts to harm themselves and others. Many people have become captives of demons because they became involved in the spiritual world and began serving them. That is why some fortune-tellers and diviners can accurately tell us about our past, including hidden and secret things.
God called them from birth, but they made the wrong choice in their lives and did not join God's family. But a gift is an ability, which is why they can hear, see, or feel something. They are dead to the Holy Spirit and do not hear His voice, but this serves the demons' purposes, as they begin using these people for the kingdom of darkness.
How could the female secretary know such precise details about me?
Very simply. In the spiritual world, there is a demonic information-exchange network. The woman had the gift of receiving revelations from outside, so as soon as I entered the room, the demons revealed to her that I had a gift and that God's calling was upon me.
How did they know this?
Other demons had previously seen certain gifts being released through me in the church.
How did they know about the future?
They simply know the Scriptures and God's will for every person's life. It is all written in the Bible. In fact, they did not know what would happen in the future; they used God's promises concerning us.
How did they learn about my country, the girl, and the letter?
Notice that these were events that had already happened! That is the secret. When she asked for my watch, she connected through that object to the demonic information-exchange network and received information about me. The demons passed on what they had seen: my girlfriend, her hair color, and the fact that she had written me a letter. From that part of the country, a letter takes about two days to arrive. That is how she knew that a letter had been written and that it would reach me in two days.
But these details contained something the demons could not have known, and they made a mistake. This girl did not become my wife. I married another girl, and her hair is a different color. Demons cannot see the future.
Through that lie, the demons tried to control me. This is how spirits of divination usually operate. They tell part of the truth that has already happened, followed by a lie that contradicts God's plans. In other words, the Lord had prepared my wife for me, and she is a blessing to me, but through that meeting with the secretary, the demons tried to change God's plan for me. If I had accepted everything that was said as truth, I would certainly have married the first dark-haired girl, whom I was merely friends with at the time and nothing more.
What do spirits of divination do?
They reveal to a medium or psychic the truth from a person's life. In doing so, the person subconsciously opens all the doors of their soul and accepts with faith what will be said about the future.
The demons then reveal certain future events in that person's life, through which they later control that person.
For example, a person hears from a fortune-teller and believes that at age 40 they will develop a serious illness and die from it. That person will now live all the remaining years quite differently, and at age 40, through their faith and the demons' help, they will indeed develop such an illness. When they become ill, they will subconsciously no longer resist death. This is what Satan wants—to destroy God's plans in people's lives.
So, a smiling person approached you on the street and told you something from God (as they claimed). How can you discern whether the person is speaking by the Holy Spirit or by another spirit?
1. You must receive confirmation in your spirit as to where this message came from.
2. If you were told about events in the past, this is not yet a reason to trust the words; it is only evidence that this person has a gift.
3. Demons do not know your future, except for what they may have heard somewhere. For example, spirits do not know who your wife will be. Only the Holy Spirit reveals the future.
The Difference Between the Spirit of Divination and the Holy Spirit
Spirits of divination present what has already happened as something that has not yet happened.
They present what has already happened as though it has not yet happened.
Suppose two people planned to rob a bank on a certain date. The demons already know about it. A woman comes to the bank manager and says, “I can predict the future. If you pay me $1,000, I will tell you when and who will come to ‘bomb’ your bank.” The banker takes out the money and gives it to her, and she tells him what she received from the demons. On that day, security easily prevents the robbery attempt.
Yes, these people confess everything, and their story exactly matches the fortune-teller’s words.
In other words, when they made this plan in secret, the demons heard it. And when the fortune-teller inquired, the information was transmitted to her through the demonic network. Thus, Satan supports his servants and provides them with finances.
But that is not all. The bank manager is now one step away from becoming involved in occultism or becoming dependent on this fortune-teller. It is only a matter of time or circumstance. Why not use her help again? Perhaps even learn to do it himself? Or hire her?
Thus, many today do not pursue “poor” Christianity, but use “their own” gifts for personal gain, and the devil provides for them. But the price will ultimately be very high: eternal torment in the lake of fire.
The Holy Spirit reveals what has not yet happened as though it has already happened.
He reveals what has not yet been, but will be.
Through dreams, God revealed to Joseph what would happen in the future, and so on.
Conclusions
Therefore, the issue is not whether we know how to receive, but from whom we receive revelations.
God knows everything, while Satan’s authority is limited. Satan is not omnipresent like God. He does not know the future as God does.
We must be able to distinguish people’s true nature from what they say. Future events spoken through the mouth of a prophet will be true, but spoken through the mouth of someone not born of the Spirit, they will be lies.
We will still have to encounter many false prophets, and we must be able to discern them.
