Developing the Gift of Hearing Through the Visible Physical World
1. The teacher prepares various objects for the students. For example: a pen, pencil, perfume bottle, notebook, stone, button, comb, clothespin, hair clip, banknote, ruler, ring, watch, and so on. The teacher arranges these objects on the tabletop in advance.
2. The teacher invites each student, one at a time, to approach the table and take whichever object they choose.
3. The teacher explains to the students how to examine the objects:
– first, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show and reveal to us everything concerning us through this object.
– then carefully examine every detail of the object: its appearance, weight, color, purpose, origin, shortcomings, defects, smell, and so on.
– ask the Lord clarifying questions in response.
4. After the corporate prayer, you may begin the exercise. Usually, 10–20 minutes is sufficient.
5. After this, give each student an opportunity to share what the Lord revealed to them through the object.
For example: one sister in our class chose a bottle with a golden cap that contained a little perfume at the bottom.
After the prayer, the Lord told her and showed her: “Look, this is you. You are like this vessel. There is something pleasant in you that attracts many people, and they gladly take advantage of it. And you gladly gave a lot of yourself. But because of this, you gradually became empty yourself, and as you can see, there is only a little left. The cap on the bottle is gold; this is your head, your mind. When you often came to Me, you tried to fill this vessel, but you tried to let My oil through the cap—that is, through your mind. You held the closed bottle under My flow. Because of this, it did not enter inside but flowed over you. You need to open your vessel; you need to remove the cap, and I will be able to fill your vessel to the brim. And so on.”
We listened to her, and it was an exact, 100% match with what she was experiencing in her life at that time. There were many more unique testimonies of what God revealed to us about ourselves. Everyone gained valuable experience that day.
God wants to speak to us through the objects that surround us every day.
