Dmitriy Leo. On Fruitless Fig Trees in Our Vineyards

October 23, 2017

Much WORK does not necessarily mean much FRUIT. Not every planting bears fruit, and not every effort is rewarded. People often make the mistake of spending their strength on what bears no fruit and neglecting what God has given them.

How Do Fruitless Fig Trees Appear?

  1. People begin ministries guided by life experience, logic, or their natural gift. This is very good, but it does not yet mean that it is a “vision” from God.
  2. People begin ministries based on impressions from watching videos on YouTube or reading Facebook posts. They get ideas to do “something.” This is very good, but it does not yet mean that it is a “vision” from God.

This is not bad IF the fig tree does not affect the vineyard. But if the vinedresser spends time and strength on the fig tree while the vineyard lies neglected, problems will come. The fig tree will become fruitless. God will do this so that you begin to think about the vineyard.

Our problems arise not from idleness, but from activity in which God is absent.

It is important for every person to inspect the vineyard to make sure that all its plantings are necessary, useful, and bearing fruit.

If a planting in the vineyard bears no fruit, it must either be REMOVED or FERTILIZED. Sometimes the planting is good, but a person has not cared for it, so it has borne no fruit. You need to receive the fertilization formula from God, because every ministry and every person is unique.

It is important to put what is PRIMARY first and what is SECONDARY second. If God has entrusted you with caring for the vineyard, but you have neglected it to do business with one fig tree, you are acting foolishly.

Either cut down the fig tree and go into the grape-growing business, or sell the vineyard and buy an orchard of fig trees.

Do only what you are certain has come from God and what your senior mentors confirm and support. What else can you do?

Hold on to the vision you received through dedication, prayer, and fellowship with God—not one that came from watching online content and reading books.

Be wise.
