Who is Jesus Christ?

October 19, 2026

The New Testament calls Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and Lord. He is the Word who was with God, through whom all things came into being, and who became human; He came as the Savior and made purification for sins.

What the Bible says about this

  • John calls Him the Word who was with God in the beginning, through whom all things came into being, and who became human and lived among people (John 1:1–3, 14).
  • The angel announced to the shepherds that the Savior had been born—Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11).
  • When Jesus asked, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God; Jesus said that the Father had revealed this to him (Matt. 16:15–17).
  • The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews writes that God speaks to us in His Son—the heir of all things, through whom He created the worlds; He is the radiance of the glory of God, made purification for sins, and sat down at the right hand of Majesty on high (Heb. 1:1–3).
  • Paul writes that God exalted Jesus so that at His name every knee should bow and every tongue confess: Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father (Phil. 2:9–11).
  • John explains why his book was written: so that readers may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing they may have life (John 20:30–31).
