Psalm 138 (in the “Father’s Blessing” Bible—Psalm 139) in full: “Lord! You have searched me and know me.”
1 Scripture passage · “Father’s Blessing” Bible
Psalm 139:1–24
1 Lord! You have searched me and know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar. 3 Whether I walk or rest, You surround me, and all my ways are known to You. 4 Before there is a word on my tongue, You, Lord, already know it completely. 5 You encompass me behind and before, and lay Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is wonderful to me; it is lofty, I cannot attain it! 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit, and where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I descend to the underworld, You are there also. 9 If I take the wings of the dawn and settle at the farthest edge of the sea, 10 even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely darkness will hide me, and the light around me will become night,” 12 even darkness is not dark to You, and night shines like the day: darkness and light are alike. 13 For You formed my inward parts and wove me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise You, because I am wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows this very well. 15 My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, formed in the depths of the womb. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book all my days were recorded, the days appointed for me, before one of them came to be. 17 How precious Your thoughts are to me, O God, and how vast their sum! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand; when I awake, I am still with You. 19 O God, if only You would slay the wicked! Depart from me, you bloodthirsty men! 20 They speak against You with evil intent; Your enemies misuse Your name. 21 Do I not hate those who hate You, Lord, and abhor those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred; they have become my enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts; 24 and see if I am on a dangerous path, and lead me in the everlasting way.
