Lesson 5. Word of Faith. “The Basics of Faith” School. Senior Pastor Dmitriy Leo prepared this teaching for Father’s Blessing Church in October 2021.
Lesson 5. Word of Faith
You can have what you say. What you say reveals your faith.
Mark 11:23: For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea!” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.
In other words, you CAN have what you say.
Important: We are not natural beings living in a spiritual world; we are spiritual beings living in a natural world.
The natural is the human level. The supernatural is God’s level.
Faith enables us to operate in the realm where God operates.
We need to take the Word of God and begin speaking words of faith. Until we begin speaking the word of faith, we will not see miracles.
A Christian manager had no sales. The company director called everyone in and scolded them because they were ending the month at a loss, as all the managers had low sales. Everyone left discouraged. There was one day left until the end of the month. During prayer, this manager heard from God: “If you believe, you can have what you speak about.”
And he decided to give it a try. That evening, a female colleague called him and joked: “So, how are sales?” He told her that the month was not over yet and that he would have the highest sales for the month. In the middle of the day, the company manager called the salesman and said anxiously: “Something has happened—something incredible! Your deals in half a day have brought us so much profit that we will now have to carry part of it over to next month because too much money has come in.”
Remember: facts and faith are incompatible.
Facts prevent many people from believing in the impossible.
A person either accepts the facts of their life and lives with them, or refuses to live with them and changes the facts through the Word of God.
We must acknowledge the facts, but we must speak in faith.
Abraham and Sarah were too old to have children—that was a fact. However, Abraham believed that God was able to do it, and he glorified God for it. And he received what he had expected.
Facts will not change the Word of God, but the Word of God changes facts.
We need to learn to speak words of faith and thereby change the facts.
At the very beginning of their ministry, when the church was still small, a pastor’s wife needed a job. She searched throughout the entire area, but no one would hire her.
The reason was that she could only type on a computer, and there was no demand for workers with those skills.
Then she and her husband decided to act according to the Word. They wrote down all the Bible verses about God’s provision and His promises to us and began declaring them daily. They also posted these passages from Scripture throughout the house in every prominent place. After that, they received a revelation to write down specific details about exactly what kind of job she wanted to get.
Her husband told her: “You must write down in faith, in as much detail as possible, everything you truly want. Do not limit yourself or God in any way.” She wrote down the most incredible thing they could imagine, and they continued to pray.
After some time, a friend came to them and asked: “Do you have a job yet?”
She thought for a couple of seconds and replied: “Yes, I already have a job.”
“Where is it?” her friend asked.
“I don’t know,” she replied. “But I already have one.”
An hour later, the phone rang, and the wife was offered a job. It was exactly the job described on the list: “Computer work 15 minutes from home. Two company cars (her husband also needed a car at that time), a salary, and much more.”
Only one thing did not correspond to what was written on the list. She had written down the specific salary she wanted, but they offered her twice as much. As her husband later admitted, he had prayed in his heart for a salary twice as high as the one she had written on the sheet of paper.
Facts prevent many people from entering into the blessings of God. But a word of faith can change the facts.
We decide for ourselves whether to accept facts as reality or to change that reality by the Word of God.
Many people have not experienced the promised blessings because they spoke incorrectly. They spoke facts, but they did not speak in faith.
We need to relearn in order to learn to speak words of faith.
Remember: faith in defeat can bring defeat.
What you say is what your faith is saying.
This works in both a positive and a negative sense. The Bible contains an instructive story.
Numbers 13:18 “Moses sent them to explore the land of Canaan and said to them, ‘Go up through the Negev and into the hill country.
19 See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many.
26 At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land…
28 They gave Moses this account: ‘We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.
29 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there…
31 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly conquer it.
32 Then the men who had gone up with him said, ‘We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.
33 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, ‘The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.’
”
Of the 12 spies sent to inspect the land of Canaan, only two—Caleb and Joshua son of Nun—had faith and made the right confession. They said, “Let us go up and take possession of it, because we are well able to overcome it.”
The other 10 spoke facts—a report full of fear and doubt. The Bible calls their message “a bad report.”
The people of Israel accepted their word. They said they would not be able to take possession of the land. In the end, they received exactly what they had said.
Except for Joshua son of Nun and Caleb, none of the others ever saw the Promised Land. They wandered in the wilderness until they died. What they accepted and said came to pass.
Even if you doubt, you still believe in something! You believe in defeat. You are believing in the wrong thing.
In life, you receive what you believe and what you say.
People are often defeated not by giants or the storms of life, but by what they say.
Sometimes we are defeated because we are prepared for defeat. We prepare for defeat. We think about it, believe in it, and then achieve it.
However, as believers, we must not speak of defeat or doubt. We must speak the word of FAITH.
A Man of God came to a young man who was in a completely helpless condition and for whom there was no hope left. That morning, a doctor examined him and said that he would not live another day. The dying man lay facing the wall. His mother explained that for several weeks they had had to lift him out of bed on a sheet, and that he was so weak and helpless that he could not even move on his own.
The Man of God said to them, “I believe your son will get up today.” They only smiled faintly. The Man of God asked the parents, “Please get his suit and bring it here.” But they paid no attention to his request because they were already expecting their son to die. Finally, the Man of God made the parents bring the young man’s clothes and placed them on the bed.
The Man of God said to the sick man, “God has revealed to me that as soon as I lay hands on you, this place will be filled with the Holy Spirit, and you will get up, get dressed, and be well.” The Man of God spoke these words in faith. Then he laid hands on him in the name of Jesus, and at that very moment the power of God descended and filled the place.
Overwhelmed by the power of God, the man of God lost his strength and fell to the floor. He did not know what happened next; he only remembered hearing the young man walking around and repeating: «For Your glory, Lord! For Your glory, Lord!» Then he got dressed and cried out: «God has healed me!».
The father fell to the floor, the mother fell as well, and everyone else in the room lay on the floor. God manifested His power that day, healing the young man and ministering to everyone in his household.
