Lesson 3. Does God Want to Heal You?

A. A. Allen’s “God Guarantees Your Healing” School

Millions of sick and suffering people could enjoy excellent health even today! Excellent health is God’s carefully designed plan for these people’s lives. God paid a very high price for their healing and made deliverance from sickness available to them when they ask. Many of these suffering people earnestly offer prayers.

They have appealed to God for healing more than once. Many of them have also stood in line for healing at some of the most well-known services held in the most effective, in terms of positive results, congregations of our time. And yet these people have not received healing. They pray much, but receive little.

It should be noted that some of the prayers offered by these people when asking for healing are far from sufficient to obtain deliverance from sickness. A person must not merely ask; they must ask “in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that person think that they will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6–7).

Anyone who prays for healing, adding the words, “If it is Your will,” openly confesses to the Lord their unbelief in the possibility of receiving healing. And the word “if” in this request clearly points to the presence of doubt. This is not asking “in faith, with no doubting.” When you pray this way for your healing, you are simply wasting time, and God says so clearly: “Let not that person think that they will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:7).

Remove the Word “If”

There is only one way to remove doubt from your request: you must remove the word “if” from your appeal to God. You must be convinced that God’s will truly is to heal you! Until you are fully convinced of this, there can be no true and unwavering faith. Whenever you wonder whether you will receive healing, you create fertile ground for doubt. Indeed, you cannot even be sure that God has heard you. Therefore, you need to be certain that you prayed according to His will. For “this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).

How can we ask “with no doubting” if we are not sure that God hears us? Naturally, it would be strange to expect an answer to prayers He never heard! We still cannot be sure that God has heard our request and approved it until we begin asking Him “in faith, with no doubting.” Until you begin asking in faith and without doubting, you will not receive! But “if you have faith, nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20). And when you truly ask Him in faith, Heaven itself will provide you with the answer!

But before you begin praying for healing, turn to the Word of God and make sure that it is God's will. If it is not God's will, do not ask Him for it! Do not waste your time on meaningless prayers that no one in Heaven will hear. But if it is God's will, remove the word “if” from your request to Him. Come to God with true boldness, “with faith, not doubting at all,” and you will receive healing! “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us;

And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14–15).

Pay attention to the Word of the Lord!

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2). This verse clearly and definitely speaks of God's will, which is that His children be healthy. And since His will for us is that we be healthy, it cannot also be His will that we be sick. For God's will is to heal us!

The leper mentioned by Mark must have doubted God's will concerning his situation, as he pleaded with Him: “...If You are willing, You can make me clean” (Mark 1:40). But this doubting man did not have to wait long to receive the answer Jesus gave him immediately: “...I am willing; be cleansed” (Mark 1:41).

God wants to heal those who are sick! If He wants to heal one person, He wants to heal another, and therefore everyone. He wants to heal YOU. “For there is no partiality with God” (Romans 2:11).

God asks: “Is anyone among you sick?” (James 5:14). To whom is He speaking? He addresses His question to everyone who is sick. Here God uses the word “ALL”—those who come to Him—and says that He does not desire “that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

If salvation is intended for everyone who repents, then all who believe will receive healing and act according to God's promise: “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord—and the prayer of faith WILL SAVE the sick, and the Lord WILL RAISE him up...” (James 5:14–15).

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: He forgives all your iniquities, He heals all your diseases” (Psalm 103:2–3). These benefits are for both soul and body: salvation and healing! Christ forgives ALL sins, and He heals from ALL diseases! Therefore, you should not accept only some of His benefits—claim them ALL. For healing is God's will for YOU!

“And God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness...’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:26–27). He created them strong, powerful, beautiful, pure, uncorrupted, and healthy!

And God's will is to preserve what He created—to keep them just as healthy, pure, and uncorrupted.

The devil envied God's uncorrupted and healthy creation and did not rest until he entered the garden of Eden. When he entered, two unclean spirits entered with him—sin and disease. Man disobeyed God's instructions and lost his innocence, becoming sinful. Then he also lost his health and became vulnerable to disease. A double curse in the form of sin and disease—this is what man received as punishment for his disobedience to God.

Have a person’s sins ever been redeemed? You will say, “Yes!” Most Christians belonging to various denominations of this faith will tell you that Christ died on the cross precisely to redeem all the sins of humanity. Many, however, do not acknowledge the fact that when Christ was crucified, He also took upon Himself all the diseases of humanity and provided redemption for both body and soul.

Double Deliverance from the Double Curse

When Christ descended from His Throne to give the world double deliverance—from sin and from disease—the angel of light and the angel of hope followed Him—double deliverance! “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). The works of the devil are sin and disease. God came to destroy not one work, but both. He came to save and heal you!

Isaiah says, “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4). Matthew quotes passages from this same prophecy of Isaiah: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:17). Peter also recalls this prophecy: “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree… by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Thus, Christ took upon Himself both our sins and our diseases. And if He took them upon Himself, then we do not have to bear their burden ourselves. Therefore, if we are destined to remain sick, all of Jesus’ suffering was in vain.

And to finally settle this issue, we should return once more to the Book of the Prophet Isaiah. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). This verse was written before Calvary. Peter, reflecting on Christ’s suffering, says, “…by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

Receive this redemption, and the works of the devil will be destroyed. Every sin will be erased, and every pain, ailment, and disease will disappear! The devil cannot lawfully crush what Christ took upon Himself. Tell the devil that. Now rely on God’s deliverance!

According to God’s law, ailments and disease were sent upon people as punishment for disobedience. Moses records these Words of God: “And He said: If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you” (Exodus 15:26).

Deuteronomy contains a complete list of diseases, even the plague, which God said would strike people according to the law for disobedience. These diseases include consumption, fever, inflammation, scorching wind, scabs, itch, madness, blindness, and confusion of heart (nervous disorder). To ensure that no disease was omitted, the writer of Scripture gives this verse: “And every sickness and every plague which is not written in this Book of the Law will the LORD bring upon you until you are destroyed” (Deuteronomy 28:61).

Such is the curse of the law. But your sin has been redeemed from the curse of the law! “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’” (Galatians 3:13).

You are redeemed!

It is the devil, not God, who desires sickness for people. This is a proven fact, because when the devil is cast out, there will be no more place on earth for sickness, pain, or tears. God desires life for us, not death. “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life…” (2 Peter 1:3). God desires that we become partakers of His nature, which is health, strength, and godliness. These promises belong to us, along with many, many others.

But despite everything stated above, you must understand that before you can benefit from these promises, you must make them your own convictions. You must pursue them, believe in them, hold firmly to them, and refuse to believe any arguments the devil may bring against them. The devil will not give up his ground unless you firmly and openly tell him that he has lost his advantages.

Around 1500 BC, God promised: “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). We know that nearly three million people enjoyed excellent health because they obeyed God's instructions and believed the promise. “And there was none feeble among His tribes” (Psalm 105:37).

Today God offers far greater promises than those given in that significant period of the past. Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” And Malachi says: “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6).

Therefore, if He has not changed at all, He is still the great “I AM.” By believing God's promises, people can still preserve the health and strength given to them in 1500 BC. We serve the same God, but “we have a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises” (Hebrews 8:6). The three million people who came out of Egypt benefited from God's promises.

There was not a single weak person among them! They were all strong and healthy! They believed that if a promise was intended for one person, it was intended for everyone. And if it was not intended for everyone, it was intended for no one.

Therefore, the reason millions of people are sick today is that they refuse to believe the following wonderful promises:

“And He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick” (Matthew 8:16).

“And Jesus went about all the cities, healing EVERY sickness and EVERY disease among the people” (Matthew 9:35).

“And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them ALL” (Matthew 12:15).

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).

Healing was God's will for His people even before Jesus came to earth. It was God's will throughout Christ's entire earthly ministry. And TODAY it remains God's instruction for His people.

Receive it right now

I have asked many people who came to me for prayer for healing the same question: “Will God send you healing?” Their answer was: “I know He can do it if it is His will.” These people believe, although they cannot find biblical support for their belief, that suffering was sent to them so that they might gain patience or long-suffering.

Many believe that their illnesses can somehow keep them within the sphere of God's will, and that through their healing they can contribute to the triumph of God's glory. Some suppose that their illnesses testify to God's love for them. Others feel that God is purifying them through their illnesses, although they do not understand the reasons for such purification. It never occurs to them that they could be freed from this purification by correcting an error in their conduct and way of life.

Would a wise and loving father punish his child for a long period of time without taking the trouble to explain the reason for the punishment? And would not a wise, loving, and obedient son put an end to his sin in order to bring his father’s punishment to an end? If sin separates you from God to such an extent that He does not hear your prayer, repent right now, and God will hear your prayer and heal you. Believe right now that God will save you.

Among the other people who come to me for prayer for healing are those who answer my question this way: “I want to be healed, but if the time has not yet come, I will have to endure suffering until God has time to heal me.” If we agree that those who suffer must patiently wait and steadfastly endure their pain until God desires to heal them, then the following statement would also be true: “A sinner should be patient and live in sin until the time comes and God saves him.” What ignorance!

“Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2).

If salvation is intended for everyone, then healing is too! It is for YOU! NOW! TODAY is precisely the day when God wants to set you free from sin and sickness.

Make your decision here and now! This is God’s will! God WANTS to heal you NOW, RIGHT NOW! Believe it! Take heed to this! Never again allow guilt to take hold of you when you pray, and do not say, “Heal me, if it is Your will…” Raise your hand to heaven right now and say, “Jesus, I am so happy that You want to heal me now.” Ask in faith, without doubting, and you will receive healing!
