Matthew 25:14–30
14 For He will act, like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his possessions to them: 15 to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability; and immediately he departed. 16 The one who had received five talents went and put them to work and gained another five; 17 likewise, the one who had received two talents gained another two; 18 but the one who had received one talent went and buried it in the ground and hid his master’s silver. 19 After a long time, the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 The one who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying: Master! You gave me five talents; here are another five talents I have gained. 21 His master said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. 22 The one who had received two talents also came and said: Master! You gave me two talents; here are another two talents I have gained. 23 His master said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. 24 The one who had received one talent also came and said: Master! I knew you, that you are a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter, 25 and being afraid, I went and hid your talent in the ground; here is what is yours. 26 But his master answered him: Wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter; 27 therefore you should have deposited my silver with the money changers, and when I came, I would have received what was mine with interest; 28 therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents, 29 because to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away; 30 and throw the worthless servant into the outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Having said this, He called out: Let anyone who has ears to hear, hear!
