Exodus 18:21–22
21 You, however, select from among all the people capable men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain, and appoint them over the people as commanders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens 22; let them judge the people at all times. Let them bring every important matter to you, but let them judge every minor matter themselves. This will make your burden easier, as they will bear it with you burden;
Deuteronomy 1:16–17
16 I commanded your judges at that time: Hear the cases between your fellow Israelites and judge fairly, whether between two Israelites or between an Israelite and a foreigner. 17 Do not show partiality in judgment; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of anyone, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case that is too difficult for you, and I will hear it.
Deuteronomy 16:18–20
18 In all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, appoint judges and officials for your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality or accept bribes, for bribes blind the eyes of the wise and twist the words of the righteous. 20 Justice—justice you shall pursue, so that you may live and possess the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
Leviticus 19:15
You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but shall judge your neighbor fairly.
Proverbs 24:23–25
23 These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good. 24 Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations; 25 but those who convict the guilty will be praised, and blessing will come upon them.
Proverbs 18:5
It is not good to show partiality to the wicked and deprive the righteous of justice.
1 Corinthians 6:1–8
1 How dare any of you, when you have a dispute with another, go to court before the unrighteous instead of before the saints? 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels, let alone matters of this life? 4 So when you have disputes about this life, you appoint as your judges those who have no standing in the church. 5 I say this to your shame: Is there no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between his brothers? 6 But brother goes to court against brother—and this before unbelievers! 7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.
Exodus 23:1–3
1 Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness. 2 Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 nor show favoritism to a poor person in his lawsuit.
John 7:51
Does our law judge a man without first hearing him and finding out what he has been doing?
Psalm 82:1–4
1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the gods: 2 “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? 3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Exodus 23:6–8
6 You shall not pervert justice for your poor. 7 Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not justify the wicked. 8 You shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and perverts the words of the righteous.
2 Chronicles 19:6–7
6 And he said to the judges, “Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord; and He is with you in judgment. 7 Now let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Act carefully, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, no partiality, and no taking of bribes.”
John 7:24
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
