A. A. Allen’s “God Guarantees Your Healing” School
God guarantees not only to heal you but also to maintain your healing. However, like every other promise of God, this guarantee is effective only when certain conditions are fulfilled. In His Word, God tells us how to receive healing. He also tells us how to maintain our healing. Those who do not understand that the work of healing does not end when healing is received will soon feel as bad as they did before being healed.
In this regard, it is extremely important to remember that not all diseases may be caused directly by the work of an unclean spirit. But this in no way means that God can be blamed for their occurrence. Regardless of how an illness occurs, the devil alone bears responsibility for it. He is an active, cunning, and skillful enemy.
He does not surrender his possessions unless they are taken from him through effective faith. Having yielded his position, he does not leave but remains constantly ready to reclaim at the first opportunity what he has lost. Jesus gave us not only promises. He also gave us a warning.
One such warning is the following: “When an unclean spirit goes out of a person, it passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house unoccupied, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first” (Matthew 12:43–45).
Do Not Give Place to the Devil
After being freed from the power of the devil, which may manifest as disease, sin, oppression by an unclean spirit, or possession by one, the healed person must understand that the house should not be left unoccupied. This house—your body—must always be occupied. When the devil leaves it, the Spirit of God must enter the body. Do not allow the devil to discover that your body is unoccupied.
And if you have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit, do everything possible to make it happen as soon as possible. The Holy Spirit has entered your body and your life, and He remains there. Let the Spirit of God continue to live in you, enriching your life and preserving your health; let Him take you under His leading and use you for the glory of God. If the Spirit of God remains in your body, the devil will not be able to return.
“And do not give the devil a foothold” (Ephesians 4:27). The devil cannot enter us unless we give him a place! Those who live in Christ are protected from the devil’s power. Therefore, we must be so filled with virtue that there is no room left for sin; so filled with faith that there is no room left for doubt; and so filled with the Holy Spirit that there is no room for any other spirits.
The sinful and careless life of those who have been healed opens the door to the devil, and he may enter the house from which he was cast out. However, Jesus gave one of those whom He healed this very important and wonderful instruction: “...You are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you” (John 5:14).
The danger is not that the person will fail to improve; the most terrible thing is that when the expelled devil returns, possibly bringing others with him, the person who was healed may become even worse. In our view, the foregoing leads to the conclusion that, in order to offer worthy resistance to the unclean spirit, one must live by faith, find support in the Word of God, and maintain constant fellowship with God through prayer.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
A Christian must avoid the possibility of being overcome by the devil. “Sin shall no longer be your master...” (Romans 6:14). Faith is the foundation on which the power to resist the devil’s attacks and sinful suggestions grows. A Christian’s conduct is truly commendable when it enables him to develop a stronger and more lasting power of resistance—one that is not limited to daily repentance for sin, but enables him to fight sin continually and victoriously.
Faith can also become the basis for refusing to give sickness a place. Faith gives a person something more substantial than the possibility of “multiple” healings, especially when the same illness persistently returns. Faith makes it possible to receive healing and keep it.
If you ever receive healing, it can happen only if you have faith. And only through faith can you remain healthy. Faith brings joy to a person, while the life of a sick person who lacks faith is filled with physical and emotional suffering.
A sick person who has faith is a happy person, because he understands that the victory over his illness has already been paid for, the victory has been promised, and it is near. Such a person will remain joyful and praise God from the heart, regardless of what he sees or feels.
Such faith cannot fail to bring healing. The devil knows that faith is his enemy, and therefore makes persistent attempts to destroy it. If you feel pain even remotely resembling the defeated illness, the devil will immediately be ready to suggest that you never received healing, or that you were not healed completely, or that your healing will not last.
But if God’s promises are alive and clear to you, and you still believe that He meant exactly what He said, your answer to the devil will be the same as that of our tempted Lord, who said, “...It is written” (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10), and that “by His wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). As you remember God’s wonderful promises, you will feel your heart being filled with joy.
And the feeling you experience can be compared only with the uplifting emotions you knew when you turned to God for healing and received your healing. Your heart will also be filled with deep gratitude, and you will thank God for the miraculous healing.
Rely on the promises offered to you by the Word of God, and praise God in the presence of the devil. This will help you resist the unclean spirit. It will not be able to remain if you have such faith.
Remain in an atmosphere of faith
After receiving healing, you will make a great mistake if you return to the church where the pastor and evangelists do not believe in the miraculous power of God. God gives us His description of such ministers and warns us of the danger they pose. “Having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people” (2 Tim. 3:5).
There are many good churches where the Full Gospel is preached and the power of God and the miracles He performs in healing sick bodies and sinful souls are acknowledged. There you will find nourishment for your faith; there you will be able to testify openly, encouraging those who still need healing.
Your testimony is very important
Upon entering a village, Christ met ten lepers. They saw Him “and lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us! And when He saw them, He said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed” (Luke 17:13–14). However, after receiving their healing, only one of them returned to thank God and sing praises to Him for his healing.
“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks.” Then Christ asked the one who had returned: “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?” (verses 15–17).
Since all the lepers Christ encountered received miraculous healing, they all should have returned to glorify Him. But only one returned. What were the others doing? The Bible does not answer this question. But this episode teaches us what the other nine should have done! They were obligated to return and glorify Christ!
Many people will attend service after service until they feel ready to stand in line for healing of their bodies. But after receiving healing, they never return to testify about the miracle that was performed, thereby glorifying Christ. Sometimes people cannot find an opportunity to return and give their testimony.
But if that is the case, there is always a way out—give a written testimony and send it to those whose miraculous ministry brought them healing from above. Yet how stingy people are today in expressing gratitude and appreciation. The behavior of those who receive healing but do not testify about it proves this.
When Jesus healed a man in the region of the Gadarenes, He said to him: “…go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you” (Mark 5:19).
If you have been filled with the power of God, be sure to testify about it whenever you meet with other believers. Describe your illness in detail and say how long you were sick. If you had to seek medical help, name the diagnosis made by your attending physician and provide all the necessary information confirming the fact of your healing.
Show the doctor's report, photographs, X-rays, and everything else that will support your testimony of complete healing. At the same time, don’t forget to say what pattern your healing followed: did you receive it immediately, or did it come to you gradually?
Your testimony is extremely important. It will not only bless and encourage those who are still just wanting to rely on God to send them healing; it is also important for you personally, because it will help you overcome the devil, who is simply waiting for any opportunity to return. “They overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” (Rev. 12:11).
And if you speak your testimony aloud, declaring the fulfillment of God’s promises, your faith will grow and the devil will retreat even farther, while his chances of gaining victory over you will diminish even more.
Resist the devil, be filled with the Holy Spirit, feed on the Word of God, rely on God’s promises, and seek to surround yourself with faith. Use your faith and testify. By doing so, you will not only be healed but also preserve your healing by the power of God. This was promised by God Himself, and God cannot lie.
