Recently, we have increasingly heard that the earth is not spherical and that the sky is not an infinite expanse stretching into space. Hmm… This is interesting!

The following arguments are presented:
- The sky has an edge, and the earth has an edge;
- the earth is not a rotating sphere but a plane with a solid foundation;
- the sky is a solid spherical expanse that joins the earth at the edges;
- the circle (edge) of the earth serves as the foundation for the firmament;
- the sun and moon are beneath the firmament and rotate above the earth’s surface, not the other way around;
- the moon is not a sphere that reflects the sun’s light—the moon is a separate source of cold light.
I was asked to give a well-founded answer on this subject: how the Bible describes the shape of heaven and earth, and what it says about the sun and the moon.
Here is what I found in the Bible.
How the Bible Describes Heaven
Job 22:14 The clouds are a veil to Him, so that He does not see, and He walks only on the circle of heaven.
Isa. 40:22 He is the One who sits above the circle of the earth, and those who live on it are like grasshoppers before Him; He stretches out the heavens like a thin cloth and spreads them out like a tent for dwelling.
Job 37:18 Can you spread out the skies with Him, hard as a cast mirror?
Isa. 34:4 All the host of heaven will decay, and the sky will be rolled up like a scroll; and all their host will fall, as a leaf falls from a vine, and as a withered leaf from a fig tree.
Rev. 6:14 and the sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.
Ps. 76:19 The voice of Your thunder was heard in the heavenly circle; lightning illuminated the world; the earth trembled and shook.
Job 26:11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are terrified at His rebuke.
Isa. 44:24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: I am the Lord who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens and by My power spread out the earth
How the Bible Describes the Earth
1 Samuel 2:8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, seating them with nobles and granting them a throne of glory as their inheritance; for the foundations of the earth belong to the Lord, and He established the world upon them.
Jeremiah 10:13 At the sound of His voice, the waters in the heavens roar, and He causes clouds to rise from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning amid the rain and brings the wind out of His storehouses.
Job 9:6 He shakes the earth from its place, and its pillars tremble.
Jeremiah 25:32 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, disaster is going from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind is rising from the ends of the earth.
Ezekiel 7:2 And you, son of man, [say]: Thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: An end—the end has come upon the four corners of the earth.
Revelation 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind might blow on the earth, or on the sea, or against any tree.
Psalm 74:4 The earth and all its inhabitants are shaken; I will establishits pillars.
Job 28:24 For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.
Job 26:10 He has drawn a boundary on the surface of the waters, at the boundary between light and darkness
Proverbs 8:27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there. When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, 28 when He established the clouds above and strengthened the springs of the deep, 29 when He gave the sea its decree, so that the waters would not pass beyond its limits, when He laid the foundations of the earth:
How the Bible Describes the Sun and Moon
Gen. 1:14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven [to give light upon the earth and] to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years; 15 and let them be lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; He made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth
.Hab. 3:11 The sun and moon stood still in their place at the light of Your flying arrows, at the radiance of Your flashing spear.
Eccl. 12:2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain.
Ezek. 32:7 When you are extinguished, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.
Josh. 10:12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered the Amorites into the hands of Israel, when He defeated them at Gibeon; they were struck down before the children of Israel. And he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon!” 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stood still until the people had avenged themselves on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher: “The sun stood still in the midst of heaven and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day”?
Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,
I look forward to your comments.
P.S. I have not yet drawn any final conclusions, but questions have arisen for me. Please do not distort the point of this post or read anything into it. I simply analyzed the biblical verses on the given topic so that we may all reflect on them.
