Freedom from Debt: The Final Loan of 4 Million Hryvnias Has Been Paid Off

February 25, 2021

God helped us pay off a huge loan of 4 million hryvnias. Here’s how it happened.

Thank you all for your prayers. A whole prayer group formed with some of your people. Together, we prayed for freedom from debt.
By God’s grace and the Father’s love, I paid off the final loan last week. Here I want to describe in more detail the tremendous miracle God performed for our family.

In 2006, we sold our apartment and invested the money in building a cottage. We invested $75,000 and also took out a $140,000 loan, secured by the land, to build the cottage. We invested all this money, but the developer went abroad without fulfilling his obligations, leaving us with the loan and, consequently, with our three children living in rented apartments.

Throughout these years, letters came from enforcement agencies, and we had court proceedings with the bank. In May this year, my husband and I began receiving calls again about repaying the debt of 4 million hryvnias. This amount included penalties.

In July, a woman called my husband. She asked whether he was selling the plot of land that was pledged as collateral. My husband replied that he did not even know who had bought it or which company had purchased it at auction. The woman said there was a buyer. But how could we sell it given our situation with the bank and the debt?! And literally that same day, the collection agency that had bought our plot contacted us. It opened a dialogue with my husband and offered the following terms: if we found a buyer, they would then consider writing off the debt.
The deal was completed yesterday, and 4,000,000 hryvnias of our debt was written off! We were given all the documents confirming that we owed nothing! All glory to God!

In addition, for three years we had been paying in installments for the apartment where we now live. In May 2020, my husband fully paid off the installment plan.

As we passed through this valley, we naturally learned a great deal. Enduring hardship, we became more like the people God wants us to be. I reflect and draw lessons from it. By His grace, we guarded our hearts.

Most importantly, throughout all these years we did not curse the developer; we forgave him in our hearts.
Our family remained intact as we went through these difficulties. Many families have not survived similar situations; they became a cause or pretext for divorce.

Thank you for your prayers, your involvement, your mercy, and your open hearts.
Respectfully, Antonina.
