Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. [When the righteous dies, he leaves regret; but the destruction of the wicked is sudden and joyful.]
Luke 18:9–14
9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ 13 But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified. For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Isaiah 2:11–12
11 The proud looks of man will be humbled, and human arrogance will be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day. 12 For the day is coming of the Lord of Hosts against all that is proud and arrogant and against everything exalted—and it will be humbled—
Daniel 4:30–37
30 the king said, “Is this not majestic Babylon, which I have built by the power of my might and for the glory of my majesty?” 31 While the words were still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven: “To you it is declared, King Nebuchadnezzar: The kingdom has departed from you! 32 And you will be driven away from people, and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field; you will be fed grass like an ox, and seven times will pass over you until you know that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He wishes!” 33 Immediately this word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven away from people, ate grass like an ox, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until his hair grew like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws. 34 At the end of those days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High, praised and glorified Him who lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and whose kingdom endures from generation to generation. 35 All the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing; He does according to His will among the army of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?” 36 At that time my understanding returned to me, and the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and former splendor returned to me. Then my advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my kingdom, and even greater greatness was added to me. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and glorify the King of Heaven, for all His works are true and His ways are just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.
1 Corinthians 4:7
For who makes you different? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not receive it?
Philippians 2:3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Proverbs 29:23
A person's pride brings him low, but the humble in spirit gain honor.
