Malachi 3:8–10

8 Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me. But you say, “In what way have we robbed You?” In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you—the whole nation—have robbed Me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts: If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Matthew 23:23

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth of your mint, dill, and cumin, yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former.

Hebrews 7:1–10

1 This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “name” king of righteousness; then also, king of Salem, meaning king of peace. 3 Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. 4 See how great he was: even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder. 5 Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they are also descended from Abraham. 6 But this man, who did not trace his ancestry from Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7 And without a doubt, the lesser is blessed by the greater. 8 In the one case, tithes are collected by mortal men; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living. 9 One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10 because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.

6 But remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each person should give what they have decided in their heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that, always having all you need, you may abound in every good work,
