Dmitriy Leo, senior pastor of Father’s Blessing Church, shared a word: “Opening Spiritual Sight.” Excerpt from the online service “Foundations of Faith – 7” dated October 23, 2021
If only we could see who is surrounding us right now. If only we could see what is happening in Heaven right now. If our eyes were opened just a little more, we would be shouting here, praising the Lord, and no one could stop us.
Let us ask to be able to see. Because this is precisely what distinguishes spiritual people from carnal people. Spiritual people always see something more than carnal people see. Spiritual people sense the atmosphere and see various movements in the spiritual realm.
One of my spiritual fathers in the faith taught me: “You must see when angels come into the auditorium.” They are always present, but there are more angels. And there are different kinds of angels. Some angels are simply present with you and do nothing. But there are angels who, when they appear in the auditorium, bring miracles. And he always taught me: “Try to see these angels. Because if you see them, know that you can confidently operate in miracles. It does not matter what the ministry is called; miracles will happen. If you see these angels.”
And I want to pray right now that our eyes would be open because, I repeat, the difference between spiritual and carnal people—let me put it plainly, between spiritual Christians and carnal Christians—is whether they sense and see the spiritual realm. Because if you do not see or sense the spiritual realm, then you rely only on knowledge and experience. If you see and sense the spiritual realm, then you constantly receive hints from it and see signposts.
And you see when there is movement in the spiritual realm; you understand where you need to move. And you can confidently set aside the sermon and say, “Now we will do this…” And it will be exactly right, absolutely on target, and no one will say, “The pastor made a mistake; he did not preach today.” But you know why you did it: because there was a specific movement in the spiritual realm.
Therefore, I want us to pray now that our eyes would always be open. And, of course, this is not simply a matter of an ordinary prayer—I will pray, and my eyes will open. Of course, this can happen if a person of God prays for you so that your eyes are opened temporarily, as happened, remember, with the prophet and his servant.
The prophet saw the chariots of fire and was at peace. But the servant was frantic; he did not understand what was happening because he could not see the movement in the spiritual realm. The servant’s eyes were temporarily opened so that he could also see the spiritual realm. But I want to give you a clue—our spiritual sight, our spiritual perception, develops ONLY through contact with the spiritual realm, only through contact with the Holy Spirit, who is our guide in the realm of the Spirit.
He is Spirit, and in His realm He is our guide. We must have this relationship. Then we will not need to pray for our eyes to be opened; our eyes will open. And we will notice certain things.
I invite you to bow your heads and pray right now. And sisters and brothers who are joining us on the broadcast today, remember that not all broadcasts are the same. And you are blessed! Because right now, we are all synchronized with Heaven. We are participating not in a fleshly ministry, but in the ministry of the Spirit and power. And this power can be poured out upon you wherever you are—whether you are sitting in the hall or watching us. Receive it together with us.
I want to lead you in prayer because this is very precious to me. It is not what I receive from the Holy Spirit during the week, but it is so precious when you are standing right here and receiving something right now. For preachers, this is the ultimate. Preparing a sermon—the longer you prepare it, the more beautiful and better it will be. It is not difficult. I am telling you.
Now, with dictionaries, historical data, Greek and Hebrew, with so many examples and prepared materials, knowing exegesis, hermeneutics, and so on, and having studied, you can put together such a sermon that the listeners will be drooling, and you will fill half a notebook. So preparing a sermon is not difficult; preaching it is not difficult. Preaching it beautifully is not difficult. Go to business seminars—there are coaches like that there.
You listen and think, “I wish we had someone like that in the Church.” You simply cannot tear yourself away. I will repeat once more: a beautiful, good sermon does not mean anything by itself. What matters is when you hear the Holy Spirit and can receive a sermon that very second. When you can come to a meeting, start a home group, sit down, and have a message within a minute.
And I remember—excuse me, we are going to pray now, but it is coming, so I am telling the story. One minister, a pastor, told me how amazed he was. For many years, more than 11 years, we traveled to the “Church of All Nations” synagogue and learned from the prophet T. B. Joshua. We took groups there. One of the groups included a pastor, and he said he had witnessed the perfect sermon. And this is what that sermon was like. The prophet came out and said, “I am going to preach about forgiveness now.”
And he preached about forgiveness. And this experienced pastor said, “It was the best sermon I had ever heard in my entire life.” He wanted to look at the prophet’s notes, because the prophet had a Bible and his notes lying beside it. Since there were no people there, he quietly approached the pulpit to photograph the notes. He came up and took a picture. One word was written on the page: FORGIVENESS. That was the entire sermon outline.
That’s it! That is the level we should all strive for. So that something is loaded into us, and we simply open our mouths and speak. You sit in a home group, open the Bible, and something is loaded into you. You begin to pray—you have only just started praying in tongues, and something is loaded into you. And you simply say something that you yourself are hearing through your own mouth for the first time. And you say, “Wow, give me the notes; I’ll write down what I preached.” Hallelujah. And Inna is a witness: sometimes I would come and listen to my own sermons because I wanted to write them down and take notes. I understood that it was not mine; I had not prepared it.
The Holy Spirit is our guide in the spiritual world. I want to pray now that we would sense and see the spiritual world. But the Holy Spirit will make this possible. He is the guide here now. Not the Father, not the Son, but the Holy Spirit—our guide in the spiritual world. He will teach us, guide us, remind us, proclaim the future, testify about Jesus, and through Him we cry out, “Abba, Father”; He brings the love of God… I could go on listing things for a long time. He is our guide here.
“Lord, we thank You for not leaving us alone. You gave us the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the MOST PRECIOUS GIFT we can have throughout our entire lives.”
And some of you need to ask forgiveness for grumbling against God because He does not give you an apartment, a husband, or success in business. And you do not care about such a great gift. This is the very best gift. You can receive money and lose it all. You can receive a husband and become unhappy, or a wife. You may not receive joy from what you thought would make you happy. You may not find satisfaction in what you thought was most important to obtain and that would satisfy you. The emptiness within us can be filled only by the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit brings true joy, peace, love, and patience. Hallelujah!
Let us ask. “Holy Spirit, make us sensitive so that we can hear and see what You are doing in these days. We have a promise that You will reveal the future to us. And the future is extraordinary; the future is even frightening; the future is full of various things we do not understand. But You will reveal to us what to do in this future that is already becoming the present. And we are entering it. But with You, nothing frightens us. Because You know the end from the very beginning.
And our prayer is that we, too, may know and see. And we truly want to become Your friends. Because, as the Lord once answered Abraham, “Shall I hide anything from My friend?” We truly want to be friends, not merely customers ordering something. Not merely users of something. We want to be friends. And right now I pray that we would develop not relationships as consumers or customers, but relationships of friendship with You.”
Believe me, He truly desires a friendship with us. There is a whole line of people who are simply customers. But there are very few friends; you could count them on your fingers. These are the people we have read about in books, called generals. In reality, the Holy Spirit has had very few friends. And still does. God has had very few friends. He could speak openly with Abraham, openly with Moses, and with David for a time. But we do not read this about every person. Thousands of years have passed. But believe me, God has not had many friends, although many people considered God their friend.
Therefore, the time is coming—and I sense it—that we need to regard the Holy Spirit as our guide through life and seek to be His friend. Because this is the shortest path to truly connect with what God has for us: to understand what God wants and to experience it. This is the shortest path.
Because if you are simply a customer ordering something, you ask for anointing for ministry, you ask for a move at a home group, or you are simply a consumer. He gives, and you say, “Oh, I have a revelation. Everyone listen carefully, everyone like it on social media right now. I have a revelation,” meaning that we are consumers; we receive something and use it for our own benefit. The Holy Spirit gave it, and we are like, “We are this shiny vessel—look at it, remember it, and hit Like.” Okay.
Let us say this once more. “Holy Spirit, we want to move further, into the depths of the supernatural. And we want to know, feel, and see what is happening in the spiritual world. We need this clarity. So that, as Jesus said, ‘I know what the Father is doing, and I do it. I see what the Father is doing, and I do it. I know what to say, and I say what the Father told Me.’ And He had no need of anyone’s testimony, because He Himself knew what was in every person. Amen.
