Can a demon physically strike a Christian while outside the human body? There are different opinions on this matter. Here is a true story from the life of a Ukrainian evangelist.
“We came out onto a bridge that had no railings along its sides, but logs had been laid down to reinforce it. I was walking along the edge of the bridge when I suddenly felt a blow just below my knee. I almost fell into the water, but I caught hold of Sasha with my hand and steadied myself. I paid no particular attention to it, since there was no one nearby. I thought it might have happened because of extreme exhaustion. When we reached the middle of the river, Tadik sat down on a log at the edge of the bridge and said, ‘I’ll wait for those coming behind us and rest a little.’ Sasha and I continued on. Suddenly, I heard the Holy Spirit speak through my feelings: ‘Go back and get Tadik, because he will fall asleep and the devil will destroy him in this water.’ I told Sasha, and we went back, took Tadik by the arms, and led him along. As soon as we stepped off the bridge, we heard a terrible lion’s roar, so frightening that a chill ran through our bodies. Suddenly, something splashed in the river with such force that the water even spilled onto the bank. The three of us began thanking God for His protection and care, and, encouraged, we continued on to Kolki.”
I have no doubt that this is true. I think demons can touch people under certain conditions. However, I believe that this should not happen to God’s people. You may say to me, ‘What about the story you posted above?’
I think much depends on a person’s faith. Faith is a shield for a person of God.
Eph. 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one;
Some Christians believe that demons can attack them and touch their bodies; other Christians believe that demons cannot touch them. Both the first and the second are right. It all depends on faith. I have noticed that attacks mainly affect people who believe that attacks against them are possible.
The Bible also says that a person born again does not sin, keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
1 John 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but the one born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
In other words, it is important to live a righteous life and keep yourself.
Thus, I am convinced that righteous living and faith determine our safety. If we believe the Word of God concerning His protection, it guarantees our protection. If demons could freely touch and harm every person, they would have killed everyone on earth long ago. That is their goal, after all.
Remain in faith, do not sin, and keep yourself! And sleep peacefully.
