Lesson 3. How to Get Rid of It. Hidden Occultism. Dmitriy Leo

Lesson 3. How to Get Rid of It. The “Hidden Occultism” school was developed by Dmitriy Leo, senior pastor of Father’s Blessing Church, in 2010.

How can we protect ourselves and our families from occult influence? First of all, we need to identify every point of contact we have with the occult. It is very important to get rid of everything occult in our lives. We must not advertise satanic symbols or the attributes of his societies and secret cults, thereby spreading them further. We must advertise God, spread His Kingdom, and show everyone Jesus Christ.

How Can a Person Come into Contact with the Occult

1. Unconscious Involvement in the Occult

Many people come into contact with the occult every day without realizing it. They may do so unconsciously, simply by following society and fashion. This includes, first of all:

  • Occult symbols on clothing and other items. (Examples)
  • Occult words and expressions. (Children and teenagers repeat them after first hearing them in films, anime, fairy tales, and computer games.)
  • Occult fashion and makeup.
  • Occult tattoos and piercings.
  • Occult signs made with the fingers.

Examples of some symbols and signs that can be encountered in our time.

We cannot say exactly which thing will affect us and which will not, but one thing is clear: as the People of God, we should not advertise and glorify occultism through our lives. God created us for His glory. We should advertise God, spread His Kingdom, and show everyone Jesus Christ.

2. Passive involvement in the occult

Superstition. Let us consult Dahl’s dictionary. “Superstition is an erroneous, empty, absurd, false belief in something; belief in the miraculous and supernatural, fortune-telling, divination, omens, and signs; belief in cause and effect where there is no causal connection.”

In other words, a superstitious person believes, and this belief is manifested in their actions: if you do this or that, something will definitely happen to you, or you do this or that so that something will not happen to you.

  • When sitting on a chair, you must not cross your legs and swing your foot—otherwise, you are rocking the devil.
  • When yawning, people cross themselves or cover their mouths so that some unclean force does not enter through them.
  • Anyone who plays with their hat will get a headache.
  • If a black cat crosses your path, it means misfortune.
  • People do not say goodbye or greet one another across a threshold, so as not to quarrel.
  • You must not sew clothing while it is being worn by someone, otherwise you will sew up their mind.
  • Giving money in the evening is bad luck; money will not stay with you.

A superstitious person lives in expectation of either something bad or something good. Is a superstitious person a believer? On the one hand, yes. They believe in the existence of supernatural forces and even depend on them. Faith is manifested in these superstitions, and the person begins to control their actions so as not to do something that supposedly would later bring punishment. This is a superficial touch of the occult—passive involvement in the occult.

3. Active Involvement in the Occult

Witchcraft (directing power): acupuncture, astral projection, hypnosis, levitation, Eastern martial arts, parakinesis, parapsychology, telekinesis, folk healing, extrasensory perception, witchcraft.

Divination (directing knowledge): astrology, automatic writing, hearing voices, clairvoyance (the third eye), crystal balls, divination, horoscopes, Kabbalah, mediums, mind reading, numerology, fortune-telling, telepathy, and so on.

How can a person get free from the occult?

1. Accept the Authority of the Holy Bible for Your Life

We must not imitate the people of this world or participate with them in the fruitless works of darkness. The Holy Bible gives us clear guidance on whom to imitate and how we should conduct ourselves.

  1. Imitate God. Eph. 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children,
  2. No impurity should even be mentioned among you. Eph. 5:3 But fornication and all impurity and covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
  3. Do not be partners with them. Eph. 5:7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
  4. Walk as children of light. Eph. 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, Eph. 5:9 for the fruit of the Spirit consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
  5. And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but expose them. Eph. 5:10 Test and discern what is pleasing to God, Eph. 5:11 and do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. Eph. 5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of what they do in secret. Eph. 5:13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light.

As children of God (children of light), we must not only refrain from participating in the works of darkness, but instead expose these works. Through our light, everything should be brought into the open. We are the ones who must bring light into these spheres and open society’s eyes to the fact that they are participating in the works of darkness and heading toward destruction.

Therefore, God’s children should pay attention to what clothing and whose symbols they wear and whom they glorify. It is important to think not only about yourself, but also about those around you. Even if you are not afraid of a skull and crossbones, you should not wear this symbolism on your clothing, so as not to teach it to others—for example, children and young people.

2. Find everything that could harm us or others

For many years I was involved in deliverance ministry and saw the consequences that everything occult brings into people’s lives. Seeing this, I adopted one good rule for myself regarding the occult: it is better to go too far than to overlook something. In other words, it is better to get rid of everything suspicious than to keep something suspicious. It is better to arrive in Heaven and discover that a certain item did not need to be thrown away and was not dangerous than to arrive in Heaven and discover that I had obstacles, problems, or illnesses because of something I possessed.

So, you need to check your wardrobe and everything in your home and remove anything suspicious. Of course, you should not approach this fanatically and become paranoid. You need to pray and ask the Lord to show you what needs to be thrown away.

3. Repent before God

  • You need to repent for acquiring certain things and mismanaging His finances.
  • You need to repent for imitating this world and the works of darkness instead of imitating God and exposing such works of darkness.
  • You need to repent for wearing and promoting occult symbols and possibly causing or encouraging someone else to do the same.
  • You need to renounce aloud every connection with the occult. If a person has personally given demons the right to invade his or her life, that person must personally resist this.

4. Destroy

If you have found anything related to mysticism, occultism, Satanism, or other religions, it must be destroyed, regardless of whether you feel sorry for it. Do not sell or pass these items on—they must be destroyed.

Gen. 35:2 And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him: “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your clothes”;

2 Kings 23:24 Josiah also destroyed the mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, and all the detestable things seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, in order to fulfill the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the temple of the Lord.

Acts 19:18–19 Many of those who believed came and openly confessed what they had done. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.

In those days, one drachma was the wage for one day of work. If 50,000 drachmas are converted into U.S. dollars, the result is half a million dollars.

5. Keep yourself pure.

Keep your vessel pure and lead an active spiritual life so that you do not give the devil a foothold.

Luke 11:24 When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, “I will return to the house I left.” Luke 11:25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Luke 11:26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.

Eph. 4:27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
