Lesson 5. He Is Our Teacher

December 14, 2021

Dmitriy Leo, senior pastor of Father’s Blessing Church, shared Lesson 5: “He Is Our Teacher.” “Knowing the Holy Spirit” School

John 14:26: “But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.”

The Lord has already determined Who will teach us everything. And I want to ask you: Who can teach us everything? This is not a childish question. It is a very important question. Today, everyone sitting in this room can honestly raise their hand and say that they do not know everything. And this proves that we are poor students. Please do not take offense.

I do not want to offend anyone. I am speaking about myself. I think that makes you feel better. But Jesus determined that the Holy Spirit Himself would teach us everything. He determined this even before we received the Holy Spirit, and this is the rule. It is an important rule that we must learn, believe, accept, and follow throughout our lives: the Holy Spirit Himself will teach us everything. He is this Teacher.

And if you say that you do not know something, it means that you are not learning from the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not say that He Himself would teach us everything; He did not say that the Father would teach us everything. He said that the Holy Spirit would teach us everything. He showed us Who would teach us all the days of our lives. And He also said, “remind you of everything I have told you.”

If a believer does not know something, then according to what Jesus said, they have not learned it from the Holy Spirit. And I know that some people are already asking, “Well, I asked. Why didn’t He teach me?” This is an incorrect question. It is like a student who sometimes comes to school, occasionally approaches the teacher, and asks only the questions that interest them. If such a student says to the teacher, “Why didn’t you teach me?”—that is an incorrect question.

If you want Him to teach you everything, but come only occasionally and ask only about things that interest you, how can you learn everything?! It must come from our side; it must come from us. We must be diligent in order to learn everything. He has been sent into our lives to teach us EVERYTHING. He is the best Teacher. He is not a teacher who says, “I am too busy for you.” On the contrary, He is not too busy for any of us. He is our personal Teacher throughout our lives. Therefore, if we have not learned something, we are poor students.

These words should make us uncomfortable so that we change our view and our approach toward the One from whom we learn. If you do not know everything today, then you have poor teachers. And I am not saying this to throw stones at teachers. There is only One. Whoever they may be, they will not teach you everything, because only the Holy Spirit can teach us everything, and only He can lead us into all truth. He leads us as a Guide. Therefore, we do not even hope that someone else will teach us everything; that is a losing proposition.

I will ask you a question: “When you have a problem or a need and questions arise, how do you seek an answer? Whom do you call upon as your teacher?” That is why you do not know everything. I am pausing not because I do not know what to preach. We must realize our fatal mistake throughout our entire lives: we seek answers everywhere except from the best Teacher.

Starting today, we must change our approach to learning. We must retrain ourselves in how to absorb information and where to get answers. We must retrain ourselves. Because today, most people act exactly like the people of this world. When they want to know what incarnation is, they search the internet.

“What is sanctification?”—they search the internet for an answer; they search Wikipedia for an answer. What are we doing?! Where are we going?! “Well, there is truthful information there too”—the Teacher, the best Teacher, remains unwanted. That is why we have a million questions. Because the places where we seek answers cannot give us answers. Only He can teach us everything!

It is always right to remember this: the Lord has determined who should teach us. This is unfamiliar to some people. I know that many have not even been taught that we must go first to the Holy Spirit. First of all! Not second, but first of all, we must go specifically to the Holy Spirit.

It is said that He will teach us everything. And it was not a preacher who said this; Jesus said it. He did not say, “Go to Me”; He said, “Go to the Holy Spirit.” He did not say, “Go to the Father”; He said, “Go to the Holy Spirit. Because the Father sent the Holy Spirit. I will ask Him, and He will send the Holy Spirit, and He will teach you everything.” Do you hear?! This is the appointed order. “I will ask the Father, He will send the Holy Spirit, and He will teach you everything.”

Who should we turn to about any question? Whether to marry or divorce, begin or end a ministry, invest money or not invest money? What will happen to the economy? What will happen tomorrow? In a year? When will the Antichrist come? All the answers are with the Holy Spirit! Everything, period! Jesus Christ said this even before we received the Holy Spirit. It will remain so and will not change.

Therefore, starting today, I am here to challenge our damaged perception of information. Our ability to perceive information has already been damaged. We are already on autopilot; we already act according to the habits and customs of the people of this world. We ask one another: “Listen, what will happen tomorrow? And what about this—do you know? Listen, do you know when the Antichrist will come?” “I don’t know.” “Listen, do you know what will happen to the economy?” “I don’t know.” “And do you know when we will no longer be able to buy or sell?” “I don’t know. What a shame.” What are we doing? We are only creating even more questions!

Where are the bold people who will say, “I do not want to abandon the best Teacher and go looking for who-knows-what, who-knows-where, from people who do not know themselves”? If you want to ask me today, “Who will be the Antichrist?”—I do not know. Ask the Holy Spirit. In other words, do you understand the point, the key? We are trying to ask those who do not know everything. What, then, do we expect to receive?!

I will tell you honestly: if I ask, “Raise your hands, those of you who do not know everything,” you will all raise your hands. If you do not, then you need to repent of lying. This means that we are trying to learn from those who themselves do not know.

We must restructure ourselves, restructure ourselves concerning every question. Get up in the morning, place your hands—or kneel, or lie on the floor (I do not know how you pray)—and ask these questions specifically of the Holy Spirit. Or, better yet, do things differently. Because a disciple who wants to know everything but asks only about what interests him cannot know everything.

If you truly want to know everything, allow the Teacher to teach you everything. Do not merely come and ask questions that interest you, on subjects that interest you, without giving Him a chance to teach you everything.

This happened to me too. I remember going to my secret place every morning for an entire week and “terrorizing” the Lord for an hour: “God, teach me, teach me how to get finances for us… where to get finances… how to earn all this. Show me this technique, all the mechanisms.” For a whole week. When, after a week, the Lord finally answered me: “You are like a pagan, thinking that you will be heard because of your many words. Do not be like the pagans.” And I felt uncomfortable. I thought I was making an act of faith, knocking on heaven’s door for a whole week. But the Lord said to me: “You are becoming like the pagans. You think that because you ask more often and ask for more, you will be heard.”

Then I realized that I had wasted an entire week. I would have been better off strumming my guitar before the Lord all that time; it would have done more good. Maybe I’m the only one who makes mistakes like that?! I don’t know. But in any case, I don’t do that anymore.

So, do you need answers? He is waiting for you in the secret place. Your seat at the desk is available. And He will devote time exclusively to you—believe me. However, be prepared: this Teacher is of the highest caliber, and you need to be friends with Him. You need to build a relationship with Him and obey Him. You need to be very respectful toward Him. And He will give you homework and assignments, and you need to do them.

The topic is simple, but it is so important. We are so lacking all these answers. We are so lacking this knowledge. Why is someone not being healed?! Why can’t someone get married?! Why doesn’t a husband come to God?! And I could go on listing things for a long time. Why have we lost this?! Why haven’t we received that?! Why isn’t this working?! He is waiting, and He has all the answers.

“And we thank You, Father, for sending the very best Teacher into our lives. We thank You that there is no one who can teach us everything—it is only the Holy Spirit. We thank You that He is not busy; He is available to us at any time. But forgive us for often being too busy for Him. And we ask forgiveness that, having had the Holy Spirit for so long, we have turned to Him so little. Carrying this gift within us for so long, we have so rarely asked the Holy Spirit. Forgive us, Lord, for even dishonoring the Holy Spirit by not going to Him, but going to people, going online, going anywhere except to Him. We went away from Him, but not to Him. Forgive us for receiving the gift You gave us and reading about it in the Bible without attaching significance to it.”

We even expressed our dissatisfaction that we had no teacher, no mentor, no one to teach us, and neglected the Holy Spirit; we neglected Your gift. And we diminished Him. Perhaps we even despised Him. We ask forgiveness. And change our attitude toward the Holy Spirit, Lord, change it, so that the One who will be with us forever may take His rightful place in our lives. In the name of Jesus.”

There are personal things that the Lord reveals to me in the secret place, and I cannot tell you everything. But there was one thing that touched me very deeply. It is not something that should be told to everyone, and not everyone can even understand it, but I feel that I need to say it.

Once, when I was alone in prayer, I heard: “There is no excuse for those who say they have no time for fellowship with the Holy Spirit.” There is nothing to interpret here. It is all stated directly and clearly. And I understood the depth of what was said, because many people—indeed, the overwhelming majority—say they have no time. What I heard is the opposite of what they say: “There is no excuse for those who say they have no time for the Holy Spirit.” It turns out that people place this precious gift below their worldly concerns, work, busyness, the Internet, pleasures, food, and everything else for which they do have time.

And when I heard this, saying, “God, I want to sleep; I can’t get up,” is self-deception. In other words, standing there and beating your chest: “God, You know I simply don’t have time. I’m exhausted.” God says, “All your time is yours. You spend it wherever you choose. No one takes it from you. No one steals it from you. You are the one responsible for your time.” That is why I understood the depth of what I heard: “There is no excuse for anyone who says, ‘I don’t have time for God, for fellowship, for prayer, for the Holy Spirit.’”

And from that moment on, I took responsibility. And you know, this leads to discipline. It is a good discipline; it is not religion. It is the discipline of being with God. It is a good discipline, for your benefit. When you pay the price to spend time with the One who gives you life, who has the answers, who is your Healer—it is worth it! Then getting up for prayer is not a routine for you. Praying for an hour or two does not seem like an eternity to you. Sitting somewhere in a closed room and listening is not a punishment for you. You run there! Who understands what I’m talking about?

“Holy Spirit, once again we are sorry. Again and again. We have said this many times in this school already, and rightly so. We are sorry that You have been with us for so long, yet we so rarely turn to You, so rarely seek Your counsel, so rarely learn, and so rarely ask You. Let everything change.”

I am praying for you right now, brothers and sisters. I am praying in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ that you and I would be people who differ from others because we honor and receive this great gift of the Holy Spirit and live as we should. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit was more important than His remaining among us. He said, “It is better for Me to go. Because if I do not go, He will not come to you. It is better for you that I go.”

I am praying that today’s teaching, today’s lesson, today’s message would simply lead some of you out of the place where you were before, and that you would walk a different path together with the Holy Spirit—with your best Mentor and Teacher. I sincerely believe that there are people to whom I preached today. I sincerely believe that many of you will be strengthened because you restore these close, right relationships with the Holy Spirit. And you will stop complaining that you are depressed. You will stop complaining that you have no money. You will stop complaining that something in your life is not right. You will differ from others because you abide in fellowship with the Eternal One.

And believe me, such people always differ from the rest because they know what is happening. They have fresh bread, fresh answers, fresh revelations that they receive every morning. They receive their daily bread every day. They are at peace about tomorrow. They do not stew in depression or anything else because they have fellowship with the Eternal One. I sincerely believe that someone among you is hearing me today.

And I say: people will notice that you are different. They will notice that you stand out. They will say, “We don’t understand why you rejoice?! We don’t understand why you are at peace?! We don’t understand why you live this way?! Why are you different from other Christians?!” Because everyone who is in fellowship with the Holy Spirit will differ from others. And that is how it should be. The difference will be obvious!

I sincerely desire that people would say this about each of us—that we are different people. I am praying for you: may this grace come, may this revelation come—a great revelation that will seize your whole heart. And from today on, may you stop blaming anyone for anything, and stop blaming yourself. Simply return to the place where you are awaited. Hallelujah! Glory to the Lord! Thank You for the Holy Spirit, for the best Teacher! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
