What Does Jesus Really Look Like: Hair and Eye Color — Dmitriy Leo

April 22, 2017

What color was Jesus’ hair? Dark or white? What was the color of His skin and eyes? Why do people see Jesus differently?

According to the Bible, people saw Jesus in three different bodies. First, there was His earthly body, in which He was born and lived. Then there was His glorified body, in which He appeared to the disciples after rising from the dead. And finally, His heavenly body.

(Matt. 17:2) His appearance changed on the mountain: His face shone like the sun, and His clothing became as white as the light.

(Rev. 2:18) Next, write to the angel of the church in Thyatira: “This is what the Son of God says, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet gleam like shining bronze:

Depending on how Jesus physically appears to people, that is how they see Him. In one case, His hair will be black; in another, snow-white. In one case, His skin will be dark; in another, radiant. And so on.

(1 Cor. 15:40) There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. The heavenly bodies have one kind of beauty, and the earthly bodies another.

Why do people describe Jesus differently? For example, they say they saw Him with black, green, blue, or fiery eyes.

I think that even when people see someone, they most often see not Jesus but angels, mistaking them for Jesus. Angels, in fact, look different from one another; there are many kinds of them.

At the same time, when most people say, “I saw Jesus”… the question is how they saw Him. Most often, people say one thing but mean their visions, images, and dreams. No comment…
